Your guide
Madis Teesalu
A great nature lover whose favourite fish in Estonia is the sea trout.
“I spend more time fishing than at home. Altogether I have more than 150 “satisfying days” a year. Fishing is a series of repetitions, yet every trip brings something new. Sea trout fishing is constant development — you are never finished.”
I am a great nature lover. Almost every year I go hiking in the Norwegian mountains and chase king salmon on the rivers there. In Estonia my favourite fish is the sea trout. I also work as a fishing guide for beginners and enthusiasts of salmonid fishing.
I have been fishing all my life, but sea trout has been my passion for almost 25 years. My personal records are a 13.4 kg trout and a 15 kg salmon — but bigger ones have been on the line and won the fight.
In everyday life I am the founder and trainer of the training company N E K T A R: 25 years of sales, customer service, leadership and teamwork training, with over 10,000 participants. I also do individual coaching and psychotherapy. That experience comes along to the water too — I can explain, demonstrate and let you make mistakes.

As a guide
By the water together — so finding fish gets easier
- Takes you to fishing spots according to the weather — wind, waves and current decide where to go.
- Teaches year-round spinning and gives advice on fly fishing.
- Explains the recreational fishing rules: licences, minimum sizes and closed areas.
- Promotes an ethical attitude and responsible treatment of fish and nature.
Straight talker
Painful honesty beats denial — even when the lure is wrong and the spot is empty.
Shows how it’s done
Casting, retrieving, wading — skills come fastest by doing.
Lets you make mistakes
A snagged lure and a lost fish are lessons. Even the pros make mistakes.
Also guiding on Saaremaa
Madis is also a guide for the Saaremaa sea trout fishing site meriforell.ee. Saaremaa has about 400 km of fishable coastline, and the best spots are only about an hour’s drive from each other. As the island borders deep sea, there is a greater chance of catching larger-than-average fish.

More about me …
Angler, trainer, music lover
I love football too, because it is exciting and playful teamwork. Alongside university I worked as a youth football coach.
For almost 25 years I have worked as an underground music DJ and I have 5,000 vinyl records at home — a 100% devoted music lover.
I remain interested in psychology and keep studying it. I practise hatha and ashtanga yoga and often travel with a backpack to recharge through the “wow effect”.
Come along!
As the saying goes: roach fishing is primary school, pike fishing is high school, trout fishing is university. Come along and become skilled at catching sea trout — and learn the spots where the fish bite, or how to make them bite. Send me a message about what you have in mind and I will get back to you shortly.
